What Story? Just for dinner why got story., Haha
Very tasty traditional Chinese food, good customer service,
The food was okay, but the service is bad. They kept ignoring me as I waited to get a refill on my tea.
This place has extraordinary service as well as yummy menu. One of my favourite restaurants around town. The drinks and food arrived fast and the prices are inexpensive. Highly recommended.
Their lobster noodle is the best around here. Ever since the place becomes less crowded because rich tourists come here less, the waiters' attitude got significantly better.
Good dim sumtill 1pm everyday. Good Chinese food.
We were very disappointed , they were cheating on weight or stealing parts from the King crab that we order. We came there for the king crab , they told us was about 10-11lbs , we were agreed but they had not show the crab to us before cook. After the crab cooked and serve on the table ,it look so short on the legs, they just give you part of the crab , and we complaint to the waiter and the manager , but they did not care and said it is the weight. And we order one of the deep fire broccoli and it looks like water boiling with no more vegetable taste at all. We are not recommend this restaurant.
What they say? You get what you pay for. So it's also true in here. Not too high price not too good quality
Taste is very good and always crowded
One of the traditional Cantonese dim sum restaurant , delicious very good.
Friendlier staff than most places.
One of best din some place in while.
I celebrated my birthday yesterday in this fine place. happy to tell that it was a magnificent evening and the restaurant was unquestionably one of the reasons for the successful evening. The crew helped in a splendid style, the food was great and my guests were so happy. We shall absolutely visit again for more joyful events. thanks very much.
👌 yummy
Delightful food and service. Ps, the fried crab there is very good.
I get to eat here a lot since I work right next to it. I have to say the service is always great and they keep the spot well organized constantly. Pricing is convenient and they serve big portions.
food was okay. good amount. too much corn starch on special deep fry lobster. ran out of desert by 8 pm. not very busy.
Good value food. Typical Cantonese restaurant with good dim sums and ok banquet dishes. Typically we come here for dim sum. This time, we had our early CHINESE New Year celebration banquet here. There are a few dishes on special promotions. For the Crab and lobster, you can a dish of one of these seafoods for $6 a pound if you spend over certain amount in the restaurant. The crab is very tasty with garlic in steam. All other dishes are the usual Cantonese style. For banquet, you will get a good value out of this restaurant.
Come here with larger groups so you can order a variety of different dim sum options and try them all. My group ordered the go-to selections - hagao, shumai, etc. Dimsum is delicious, nevertheless pretty standard as you'd find anywhere. The venue is nice and was packed with people, and we had to wait 20-30 min to be seated since we came at peak lunch hour. I'd say it was worth the wait, because we ended up only spending $80 for 6 adults!
One of the order was not fresh. (Yangzhou fried rice). The reason I still gave 2 stars was their dim sum is above average.
Food was great and good variety. Service staff are non attentive, typical of most Chinese restaurants.
This place has flavourful dim sum, unlike other Dim Sum areas that have somewhat bland food. The service is great, and a food cart comes almost immediately after you sit down. The only con of this restaurant is that the hallways and the atmosphere is somewhat ok, but overall, this restaurant outperforms any other Dim Sum area!
Last week was our first time we went to this place. But It is no doubt not the last time. We had great time with the excellent service, with the first-rate cooking and fine drinks and with the decent payment. We will no doubt return there soon.
Top Island is a popular restaurant in the local Cantonese community for delicious, authentic seafood in the Guangzhou style. A very large restaurant, Top Island is nearly always packed with large family groups dining throughout the evening. In the mornings they offer dim sum, and by the evenings, seafood. Tanks display a variety of fish, crabs and lobster, as well as specialties including geoduck. In addition to seafood, they offer other Cantonese cuisine and a selection of well prepared vegetables. As an appetizer of sorts, fresh, hot in-house baked pineapple stuffed buns are brought to your table once you have placed your order. They serve a delicious sweet red bean soup for dessert. Prices are moderate to expensive. The only negative, is the gauntlet of middle aged and older men smoking like trains right outside the doors to the restaurant.. despite bilingual signs clearly asking people not to. The managers could do more to discourage that.
This place has good Dim Sum. 10 out of 10 recommend to eat there for brunch or lunch. The service is good and the food is amazing, most traditional Cantonese and Chinese food are served there. Its really nice.
I would say it's one of the best Cantonese Restaurant in LA Area. They got plenty of discounted items everyday such as Alaskan King Crab, Boston Lobster or Geoduck, but you have to spend over USD$40 - 60 to get this discount price. It's quite difficult for groups with only 2 - 4 pax.
Came here for dinner. Servers are rude and don't care about customer service. We ordered a tofu dish with shrimp. When the dish came, there weren't any shrimps in it. We told the servers and they said that's correct dish. If the title of the dish says shrimp with tofu but no shrimp then they shouldn't name it with shrimp in the title. Server kept arguing that they were correct. They didn't bother to even check if it was correct. Also, we found a long strand of here in the chicken dish. I really tried to avoid doing this review, but in the end, the service was so terrible that I had to. Thanks to this, all my dinners for the rest the year are ruined.
Would absolutely recommend trying this spot. Great ambience, fresh dishes, awesome service. Fantastic work.
I get to eat here a lot since I work close by. I got to say the customer service is always good and they keep the place well kept regularly. Prices are affordable and they serve sizeable portions.
I have been going to Top Island for over ten years. Heads Up: Wait times can be long and parking can be a hassle. A recommendation is to drop off a friend / relative and have them get a number to wait. Parking is also available in the back behind the Planet Fitness. Food: I usually come to Top Island for Dim Sum. I have no issue with the food. They are always pushed around in the carts by hostesses so you always know it's hot. If you don't see what you want, you can always ask one of the waiters / waitresses for a specific item. Customer service is average-to-good. This is on-par with most authentic Chinese restaurants. The food speaks for itself.
Can get crowded on weeknights and weekends when it comes either dim sum or dinners. Great portion and reasonable prices for any kind of family or friends gathering.
Racism Okay so we ask for a table of six and three of us were asking a table which we don't know much of chinese but the other three did but were at somewhere else at the moment. When we asked they said it would take 1 to 2 hours but when the other three came and spoke to them in chinese we instantly got a table.
One of the best authentic dim sum in Los Angeles area. Located in Alhambra 28 minutes away from downtown LA. Prices are affordable and they usually a long line during weekend. It's combination of authentic Chinese and Taiwanese food. From steamed chicken feet to toffu dessert they have it all.
Bad dim sum overall! Worst dim sum experience for a long while in San Gabriel Valley area. It was a good, not excellent, dim sum place before. Going south very fast. It was a mistake to go to Top Island yesterday because for it open early than others!
The food is pretty good here. But the service is absolutely horrible. We waited a long time outside to be seated, which isn't bad because they're really busy and I don't mind waiting when there's just a lot of business (because that's not something they can control) but when we were finally seated, they just didn't service us that well. The food isn't bad so come for good food not service.
Came here for the King Crab, it was delicious, all of us really enjoyed it. The restaurant is a bit run down though, hope it will be renovated soon in the near future.
I eat in this lovely place often! This is my favorite spot to to have a good dinner. I go to this spot frequently. The meals are of high quality, the crew is professional and the charge is good. I like meeting in this restaurant over a nice dinner.
Very good price best service beat any chinese restaurant in orange county
No good. Cat was chewy. Maitre D was extremely stinky. What i informed him of this he called me , a yin dow?? Waiter said that meant that he was my very special friend. I would have to try another place right meow.
They have good food and good service. Price is reasonable... Highly recommend it..
This restaurant really knows how to do their seafood. From the lobster, clams and shrimp so very scrumptious. The dessert pineapple buns come out hot and crispy, it is so yummy! It actually has bits of real pineapple inside. 😁
Overall a good Chinese restaurants. I went there every time I was in town. Price is reasonable. The Alaska crab is very good
We had dinner here on Christmas Eve. We ordered 3 dishes. They were: Yang Chow fried rice, Pork chop with Peking sauce and Walnut mayonnaise shrimp. All 3 dishes were very good. The fried rice dish may have been the best. The food was better than I thought it would be. The place is ok from the outside, but actually much nicer inside. These big Chinese places are not known for their attentive service and this place was no exception. It was sometimes difficult to find our waiter. Yet the waiter's food suggestions were excellent. The food is very good and the atmosphere nice. I would come back again. Portion sizes were also generous.
very famous restaurant, foods good, very crowded
The spot is excellent and broad, the meals was yummy and the prices were very inexpensive. fast, efficient service and very affable staff members. I highly recommend this place.
Very fast and clean place. Good food good breakfast 😃
One of favorite Dim Sum place and late dinner for my family. Even though parking in the plaza is crowded and need to wait for a table in the weekend, it is not expensive and has a good portion of the food. Also, service here is good, and sometimes give customers good food. However, food of quality has not very consistency because sometimes it is not very fresh. Overall, I recommended Top Island is good for big party and late dinner in the weekend because it is not crowded and expensive.
Good variety and tasty dim sum (we were visiting from San Francisco area), but very long wait for 11 people on this busy Saturday noon hr. Will consider returning at some point.*Just remembered. Apparently all dim sum items are uniformly charged at the more (most?) expensive category on weekends as opposed to charging items at their respective categories.
I’ve had better dim sum but this place isn’t bad. The staff wasn’t great as they seemed only focused on getting the food off of their carts. Nonetheless the place was neat and food was out quick.
Great dim sum place at the San Gabriel valley area, reasonable price and the staff are very friendly. Stress free parking; since there is a huge parking area at the back.
Staff always keeping things moving and swiftly fulfill all reasonable requests. Wanted a fresh set of the fried shrimp balls but they couldn't, so they offered to take it off the check. A+!
